James Wan’s film Saw is a horror-thriller film that redefined psychological-horror and slashers subgenres. Unlike other slasher films Saw focuses more on psychological tension, suspense and intricate storyline. It was the first film in the Saw franchise released in 2004. No doubt it became one of the most influential horror films of 21st century. Leigh Whannell and Cary Elwes’s acting is unsurpassed.
The film has a non-linear narrative revolving around the mystery of the serial killer. Two men — oncologist Gordon and photographer Adam — awake in a dilapidated bathroom, chained by their ankles with no memory. They soon realize they are part of a deadly game orchestrated by the Jigsaw Killer. The antagonist is convinced that people don’t value their life and spend it for nothing. The killer wants to put each of them in the same position that he was once in — to teach them to appreciate their life. This is a unique motivation for the maniac, it delves into philosophy and the meaning of life.

To be honest it’s my favorite horror-film, so I rate it 10/10. This movie has proved that horror movies can be not only frightening but also intellectually gripping. This breathtaking film with its brilliant plot, terrifying scenes of the game and unpredictable ending. Game of actors is incredible. While watching this movie you become concerned about the heroes. It also interesting to see how characters experience difficulties and slowly go crazy. One of the most important things in that kinds of horrors is violent scenes. In Saw they are so well made. Everything is very well thought out and cause very strong emotion.
All things considered; this movie is worth seeing for horror fans. I truly recommend watching this movie.
That’s all for now. Game over…
